Summary

Your models and settings

When you add an STL file, your browser reads it and the slicing engine runs on your own device. The model, the printer and material you choose, your print settings and the generated G-code are held in your browser's memory while the page is open. None of it is sent to our servers, and we cannot see or recover it.

Closing or reloading the page clears this working data. The only files your browser fetches from us are the site itself, the slicing engine and the printer profiles, which are ordinary static files that are the same for every visitor.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google LLC, to understand how many people visit freestltogcode.com, which pages they open and roughly where they come from. Google Analytics collects usage information such as the pages viewed, the time spent on them, your approximate location (country or city level), your browser, device type and operating system, and the site or search that referred you. Google Analytics 4 is designed not to store visitor IP addresses.

This data is used only to measure and improve the site. It is reported to us in aggregate, and we do not use it to identify individual visitors. Analytics never sees the contents of your STL file, your settings or your G-code, because that work happens entirely in your browser.

Google acts as a processor of this data under its own terms; see How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services. You can opt out of Google Analytics in any browser with the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, or by blocking cookies and scripts in your browser settings. The site works the same either way.

Cookies and local storage

Google Analytics uses cookies and similar technologies to tell one visit from another. These are the only cookies on the site, and you can delete or block them in your browser at any time. We set no other cookies. The site also stores a single entry in your browser's local storage, namedstltogcode-theme, to remember whether you chose the light or dark theme. It contains no personal information, stays on your device, and is never sent to us. You can remove it at any time by clearing your browser's site data for freestltogcode.com.

Hosting and server logs

freestltogcode.com is served by Cloudflare (Cloudflare Pages). As with almost any website, when your browser requests a page the hosting network may process technical information such as your IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time of the request. This is used to deliver the site, keep it secure and prevent abuse. It is handled under Cloudflare's own terms; see the Cloudflare Privacy Policy.

Apart from the Google Analytics described above, we do not add advertising or tracking scripts, and we do not use this technical data to identify or profile individual visitors.

When you email us

If you write to contact@freestltogcode.com, we receive your email address and whatever you include in the message. We use it to read and answer your message and to improve the site. We keep it only as long as needed for that purpose, or as the law requires, and we do not add you to a mailing list. Please avoid sending sensitive personal information or confidential models by email.

Third parties and links

The only third-party script the site loads is Google Analytics, described above. The site loads no advertising networks, social widgets or external font services; fonts are bundled with the site. Some pages link to other websites, for example the CuraEngine project on GitHub. Those sites have their own privacy practices, and we are not responsible for them.

How we share information

We do not sell your information or share it for advertising. Because we hold almost nothing about visitors, there is little to share. We may disclose information only where required by law, to protect the site and its users from abuse, or to the hosting provider described above as part of running the service.

Security

The site is delivered over HTTPS. Processing your model locally means it is not exposed in transit or stored on a server. No online service can promise perfect security, but the design keeps the amount of data at risk very small.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR, UK GDPR, CCPA/CPRA or India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act), you may have rights to access, correct, delete or object to the processing of personal data we hold about you. In practice, the only personal data we are likely to hold is the content of emails you have sent us; analytics data is aggregated and held by Google. To make a request, email contact@freestltogcode.com and we will respond as required by applicable law. Requests about server logs held by our hosting provider may need to go to that provider directly.

Children

STLToGcode is a general-purpose tool and is not directed at young children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

International processing

Our hosting provider and Google both operate global networks, so technical and analytics data about your visit may be processed in countries other than your own. Your models and settings are not part of this, since they never leave your device.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy, for example if the site changes how it works. The "Last updated" date at the top shows when it last changed. If we ever introduced anything that handled your files or personal data differently, we would update this page before doing so.
